Standard vs. Deep Cleaning: Which One Do You Need?
By Spotless House Cleaning Sugar Land · Published
Book a standard clean when the home is already maintained and needs routine kitchen, bathroom, dusting and floor work. Book a deep clean when baseboards, tracks, fixtures, grease or bathroom buildup need catching up. Inside appliances and cabinets are add-ons unless you book an empty-home move-out clean.
What does a standard clean keep up with?
Our standard visit handles the rooms you live in: counters, the sink, the stovetop and appliance fronts in the kitchen, full bathroom cleaning, dusting of every reachable surface and vacuuming and mopping the floors. The team makes the beds, empties the trash and does a last walk-through. Fresh sheets go on when you leave them out and ask.
Standard makes sense when surfaces are easy to get to and the house is in reasonable shape. Your first visit with a professional does not automatically have to be a deep clean. Judge by how the home looks today, not only by how long it has been since someone cleaned it.
What extra work comes with a deep clean?
A deep clean includes the full standard list plus detail work by hand: baseboards, door frames, doors, switches, sills, window tracks, cabinet fronts and the fans and light fixtures a step stool reaches. Kitchens and bathrooms get extra time for grease, soap scum and grimy grout.
If your home in Sugar Land or Richmond was finished recently, mention any construction dust still hanging around. Tell us too if contractors are still working or if paint, adhesive or mortar is left behind, since that goes beyond a normal residential deep clean. Dusting vents means the grilles you can see, not duct cleaning.
- Run a finger along a baseboard or door frame and look for a dust line.
- Check the stovetop and range hood for sticky grease.
- Look at shower glass and grout and note any permanent staining.
- Tell us which furniture can be moved safely; heavy pieces stay put.
What is outside both standard and deep cleaning?
Inside the fridge, the oven and cabinets are optional on standard and deep visits, and interior windows and blinds also need to be requested. Carpet shampooing, high exterior windows, rodent droppings, biohazards and mold remediation fall outside both checklists.
Cleaning removes dirt but cannot undo damage. Etched marble, worn caulk, cracked grout and stained surfaces can still show after a thorough clean. Point out delicate finishes ahead of time so the team chooses the right method instead of reaching for something harsh.
How should you pick your first visit?
Tell us your home size and give a plain description of the kitchen and bathrooms. If the main issue is dust and floors, a standard clean probably covers it. If the detail areas have slipped, start with a deep clean and then move to recurring standard visits.
For an empty home between occupants, look at the move-in and move-out checklist instead, since it adds cabinet and appliance interiors that a deep clean only includes as add-ons. Our printable checklist lets you compare all three side by side before you call or text.
