How to Get Ready for House Cleaners
By Spotless House Cleaning Sugar Land · Published
Before the team arrives, pick up clutter so surfaces are reachable, share how they will get in, make a plan for pets and point out delicate finishes. Agree on the checklist and any add-ons ahead of time so the visit goes to cleaning, not sorting.
Clear the way to the surfaces you want cleaned
Cleaners can wipe a counter much faster than they can sort what is sitting on it. Put away toys, mail, laundry and dishes so the time goes into cleaning. There is no need to clean first, just clear enough that floors and counters are reachable.
Decide which rooms matter most and which can be skipped. A guest room nobody uses may need less attention than a busy kitchen. Telling us up front helps the team spend time where you will notice it.
- Pick up items from floors, stairs and counters.
- Put away jewelry, cash, medications and paperwork.
- Leave clean sheets on the bed if you want them changed.
- Set out any product you want used in your home.
Share how we get in and your plan for pets
You do not need to be home. Let us know about door codes, lockboxes, gate codes, alarm systems and where to park. You will get a text from us shortly before the team pulls up.
Our team is gentle and easygoing with pets, but tell us about yours anyway. Let us know if a dog should stay in a crate or a back room, if a cat tends to slip out the door, or if a gate needs to stay latched.
Point out delicate finishes and existing damage
Marble, natural stone, unsealed wood, specialty appliances and antiques may need a specific approach. Tell us about them before the visit so the right products are used. If you have a preferred cleaner for a surface, leave it out.
Mention anything already chipped, cracked, loose or stained. That way nobody wastes time trying to scrub out a permanent mark, and the team knows to be careful with fragile pieces.
Agree on the checklist and look over the result
Confirm whether you booked a standard, deep or move-out clean and which add-ons you chose. If something new comes up, like a fridge that needs cleaning, ask before the visit so it can be added to your quote.
After the clean, walk through the rooms you care about most. If something does not look right, call or text us so we can talk it through. Clear notes after the first visit make every visit after it smoother.
